Research and Campaigns is one of the twin aims of our service – to improve the policies and practices that affect people’s lives. We have a huge amount of insight and data about the problems people face. We use this to help us to research issues in greater depth and to influence decision makers to change policies and practices.
Through Research and Campaigns we can widen our impact, preventing issues from occurring in the first place and helping everyone, not only those people who use our services.
We work with other local Citizens Advice and other agencies to collect this evidence, contribute to policy discussions and influence decision makers. The work involves our whole team, plus clients, partners, supporters and decision makers.
Sadly, across North Yorkshire there are hundreds of older and vulnerable people who are at risk of become ill or dying from the cold. The Surviving Winter Appeal provides blankets, fuel, hot water bottles and sleeping bags to homeless people plus home assessments and improvements to vulnerable older people. Funds are distributed to frontline organisations like ourselves who work with vulnerable people to make sure they reach those most in need.
